JULY 20
(GMT +13) / NUKU'ALOFA
dawn in Samoa our descent into Tonga
We have arrived safely in tomorrow and The Kingdom of Tonga but with half our luggage lost during transit at Los Angeles airport. A major power cut in the vicinity knocked out air traffic control just as we were starting our descent and all inbound and outbound flights were grounded or re-routed for at least three hours.

Our plane was sent to refuel at Salt Lake City and stranded on the tarmac for four hours before flying us back to LA. We just caught our onward connection to Samoa an then Tonga but somewhere along the line, one suitcase was lost and we are now missing vital cables for the light sensor along with all Alison's clothes.
Tonga's international airport pacific wilderness
There is some chance our missing cables, clothes and cosmetics will still catch up with us but we are aleady trying to source replacements as quickly as we can. It is pretty clear we will have to organise any electronics to be shipped from Aukland so time is now against us. We have only just arrived and the experiment is at risk already. We have nine days to resolve this if we hope to stay on schedule.
